Finding peace in imperfections

My sketchbooks have always been a mix of art and writing. Even in my art classes, writing is woven in. It’s a good way to get in touch with your inner voice.

Here are a few words from one of my tiny sketchbooks:

Taking in the beauty — taking it in to your body and soul. Being one with your beautiful aging body, finding peace in our perfect imperfections. Seeing ourselves as life itself, no less than a tree, or a flower — and no more. Knowing that there is such wisdom in age, such uniqueness in our imperfections. In seeing ourselves with compassion, we’ll see others with compassion too.

So good to write. Do you write? Is it a balm?
